(hr"d), a.[Compar.Hardier (-dr); superl.Hardiest.] [F. hardi, p. p. fr. OF. hardir to make bold; of German origin, cf. OHG. hertan to harden, G. hrten. See Hard, a.]
1. Bold; brave; stout; daring; resolute; intrepid.
