Afula () is a city in the North District of Israel, often known as the "Capital of the Valley" due to its strategic location in the Jezreel Valley. In the city had a population of . ==Etymology== The name Afula is mentioned first around 19th century BC as "Ofel" in the (Execration texts ) - Much later, during the Ottoman rule, around 18th century AD, there was a small Arab village el-'Afuleh, also written Affule.〔()〕 The modern name is derived from the name of this village.
