Al-Ansi
Al-ʿAnsī ((アラビア語:العنسي) is an ancient and prolific tribe originating in the Hadhramaut region of Yemen. After the final breach of the Marib Dam about 570 CE, its members spread across the Arabian Peninsula. Members of this tribe are mostly situated in ʿAns, Yemen today, with tribe members resident in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
Famous members of the al-ʿAnsī tribe include:
* ʻAmmār ibn Yāsir, who fled Yemen to Mecca and became a companion of Muhammad
* Aswad Ansi, a competing prophet to Muhammad, who sent Fayruz al-Daylami to assassinate him under the supervision and planning of Qais bin Hubaira.〔A.I. Akram. ''Sword of Allah: Khalid bin al-Waleed'', ISBN 0-19-597714-9〕〔Abu al-Abbas Ahmad bin Jab al-Baladhuri〕
* Nasser bin Ali al-Ansi, one of the senior leaders of the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen
* Muhammad Ahmad Abdallah Al Ansi, a citizen of Yemen held in detention in the U.S. Guantanamo Bay Naval Base detention facility, in Cuba. His detainee ID number is 029.
