Al-Thawrah
Al-Thawrah ((アラビア語:الثورة) '), also known as al-Tabqah ((アラビア語:الطبقة) '), is a city located in Ar-Raqqah Governorate (Syria), approximately west of ar-Raqqah. The name "al-Thawrah" literally means "The Revolution", in reference to the March 8th revolution. The Tabqa Dam, which compounds the Euphrates and creates Lake Assad, was built near al-Thawrah. The city had a population of 69,425 as of the 2004 census.〔(Al-Thawrah population )〕 It was home to about a thousand Assyrians, most of whom have fled from the sectarian violence of the Syrian civil war. 〔 〕 ==Notes==
