The boundaries of Alakkode are Pullur Periya on the east, Ajanoor Grama Panchayaths on the south, Pallippuzha and Koottakkani on the west and Pakkam and Cherakkappara on the north. Alakkode is one of the developing villages in Pallikkere Grama Panchayath. Agriculture is the occupation of majority of the population. Income through agriculture related works, construction works and foreign money are the main sources of income. Sri Maha Vishnu Temple of Alakkode is one of the oldest Hindu temples in this region. EMS Granthalayam and Azhikkodan Smaraka Mandhiram are the other major landmarks in Alakkode. EMS Granthalayam is the only one library approved by Kerala State Library Council in Pallikkere Grama Panchayath. C. P. I. (M) (Communist Party of India (Marxist)) is the major political party in Alakkode.
