Althea () is an English female personal name. It is a variation of the Greek name ''Althaea'', which may be related to Greek ''althos'' ("healing"). Richard Lovelace used the name in a poem ("To Althea, From Prison") that John Milton later alluded to in Lycidas.〔Milton, John, Homer Baxter Sprague, ed.
