Andreapol
Andreapol ((ロシア語:Андреа́поль)) is a town and the administrative center of Andreapolsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the Valdai Hills in the upper reaches of the Western Dvina River. Population: 12,000 (1968). ==History== The village of Dubna opposite Andreapol was first mentioned in chronicles in 1489. Modern Andreapol goes back to 1906, when a rail line reached this region and a railway station was opened. During World War II, the station and the district were occupied by the Germans troops (fall 1941 through winter 1942). Andreapol was granted town status in 1967.
