Ankyloglossia varies in degree of severity from mild cases characterized by mucous membrane bands to complete ankyloglossia whereby the tongue is tethered to the floor of the mouth.〔 == Effects == Ankyloglossia can affect feeding, speech, and oral hygiene〔Travis, Lee Edward (1971).
