Arabo ((アルメニア語:Արաբօ), 1863–1893), born Stepanos Mkhitarian, also known as Arakel, was a famed Armenian fedayi (''freedom fighter'') of the late 19th century, one of the first fedayis.〔General Andranik and the Armenian Revolutionary Movement, by Dr Antranig Chalabian, Michigan, 1988 ISBN 0-9622741-1-9〕 Arabo studied at Arakelots monastery school in Mush. Since late-1880s he led Armenian fedayi groups of Sasun and Taron. In 1892, he was arrested by Turkish authorities, sentenced for 15 years imprisonment, but escaped from prison and resumed fedayi activities.
