It is well known for its blue eggs, which has been a subject of controversy regarding whether or not the breed was developed from birds that arrived pre or post Columbian. The egg colour is caused by a DNA retrovirus that occurred sometime early in domestication.〔http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0071393〕 In the United States it may be known as the South American Rumpless, and may be confused with other fowl, especially the Ameraucana and Easter Egger. ==Tailed vs Rumpless== A major difference in international perception of the Araucana breed is the existence of a tail. The exact physical description of the bird varies, with the North American varieties being rumpless and without a tailbone, the British standards accepting both tailed and rumpless〔http://www.araucana.org.uk/breed_standards.html〕 and the Australian standard accepting only tailed.〔Australian Poultry Standards, 2nd Edition 2012〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Araucana」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
