ARAYOOR (ആറയൂർ) is a small Village in Neyyattinkara Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram District. It comes under Chenkal Panchayath. It belongs to South Kerala Division. Arayoor is located 5 km from Parassala, 6 km from Neyyattinkara and 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram.This village has a post office. Arayoor Pin code is 695122.
The name ആറയൂർ itself originates from ആറ് + ഊര് → ആറൂര് → ആറയൂർ
Arayoor has gained world wide recognition with great saint of Abhedashrama, Swami Abhedanandhiji; whose mind and soul is whole set for Arayoor. World popular writer C.V. Raman Pillai, Travancore General officer commanding Maj Gen V.N. Parameswaran Pillai (Kuttan Pillai) were born in Arayoor
C.V.Raman Pillai was one of the great novelists,pioneering playwright and journalist in Malayalam. C.V. Raman Pillai died on 21 March 1922. Chenkal Panchayat, which includes Arayoor, the village in which C.V's mother lived, respecting the heartily expressed feelings of the people there, named the area as C.V.R. PURAM and C.V.R. NAGAR
