Arkesden is a village and civil parish in Essex, England. It is located southwest of Saffron Walden, is around 6 miles from Bishop's Stortford in nearby Hertfordshire and is northwest from the county town of Chelmsford. The village is in the district of Uttlesford and the parliamentary constituency of Saffron Walden. The village has its own parish council. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 363, increasing slightly to 366 at the 2011 census.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Civil Parish population 2011 )〕 The village church is dedicated to St Mary the virgin. The village hall is on the church green next to Church Green Cottage. There is one public house, the Axe and Compasses.
