Ashado

Ashado (born February 4, 2001) is American Thoroughbred mare racehorse. Highly successful in racing, she is a two-time Eclipse Award winner. At the end of the 2005 racing season her owner group, which included trainer Todd Pletcher, Paul Saylor, Johns Martin, and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Wolf, sold her at the Keeneland Sales November auction for $9 million, a world-record price for a broodmare/broodmare prospect. Ashado was retired to broodmare duty at her new owner's Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.
Two-time champion Ashado, who sold for a world record $9 million, produced her first foal, a Storm Cat colt named Star Cat, on March 18, 2007. She is owned by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stables and produced the Kentucky-bred colt for Darley Stud Management. She also has a 2009 Street Cry colt.〔http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=15015〕 Star Cat is unraced and has been retired to stud for the 2010 season at Breakway Farm in Dillsboro, Indiana.〔http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/sr_sire_page.asp?refno=8049964&origin=singlesearch〕
