Asuragen's portfolio of molecular assays include qualitative assays enabling the detection of gene mutations often found in cytologic or histologic solid tumor specimens, such as KRAS or BRAF, and fusion transcripts or mutations associated with specific leukemia types or subtypes. These assays incorporate Signature® Technology for rapid multiplex analysis of nucleic acid sequences in a single reaction. The oncology product offerings include a multiplexed reverse transcription quantitative PCR assay to measure the expression levels of the BCR-ABL1 fusion gene in white blood cells. In the area of genetics, Asuragen has introduced PCR-based assays for molecular characterization of trinucleotide repeats and determination of methylation status in the 5' region of the Fragile X Mental Retardation FMR1 gene.
