Atani :''This article is about the city in Nigeria. For the term as used in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional works, see Man (Middle-earth).'' Atani is a city on the eastern bank of the Niger River in Anambra State, Nigeria. It was a town made prosperous by early fisher men and migrant settlers. Atani is still the rice, yam and cassava basin of Anambra state, producing most of the food sold in many markets in Delta and Anambra States. Atani is believed to possess commercial quantities of unexploited crude oil. Atani people have managed to maintain their colourful culture while opening up to modernity. As more people migrate from the bigger cities, the population has grown to an estimated 230,000. Of the few private industries in town, most are in fish processing and rice packaging. Atani have produced several academicians and successful entrepreneurs. Prof. Ben Nwabueze, the former Nigerian Minister for Education and the internationally renowned musician Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe are from Atani, also one of the most talented young intrepranuer of his generation Comr. Odunze chukwuemeka G. a graduate of banking and finance from Anambra state university in 2011 and at the age of 22 he has bagged the best proposal of the year award, date of birth 4th may 1988
