Papadopoulos’ early works included developing an access control system for Rizzoli Publishing and data fabrication software for the Journal of Biological Chemistry, an early digital scholarly journal. Atypon has grown both organically and through acquisitions. It acquired Extenza e-Publishing Services〔http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0199-3886653/Atypon-acquires-Extenza-e-Publishing.html〕〔http://www.researchinformation.info/features/feature.php?feature_id=82〕 in 2005. The acquisition of eMeta in 2008〔http://paidcontent.org/article/419-macrovision-sells-of-emeta-division-to-atypon-systems/〕 expanded Atypon’s product portfolio to include RightSuite, an enterprise access and commerce platform for the publishing and media industry. Atypon acquired the Metapress business from EBSCO Online in 2014, with the Metapress platform to be discontinued and customers moved to Atypon's Literatum platform.
