Bahadurabad

Bahadurabad () is one of the neighbourhoods of Gulshan Town, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is located in the Civic Centre zone in the Gulshan Town. The neighbourhood was originally inhabited by mainly middle class Hyderabadi Muslim refugees from Hyderabad Deccan (now Hyderabad, Telangana, India) who migrated after the independence of Pakistan in 1947 after armed invasion and annexation of Hyderabad State by India in 1948.〔Sarah Ansari, (Life after Partition: Migration, Community and Strife in Sindh, 1947–1962 ), Oxford University Press, 2005, pg 140〕
Bahadurabad is named after Bahadur Yar Jang, a Muslim nationalist from Hyderabad Deccan. In 2007, a replica of the famous Charminar monument of Hyderabad, India was constructed on the main crossing of Bahadurabad.〔M. Rafique Zakaria, (Charminar in Karachi ), Dawn, 22 April 2007〕
The population of Bahadurabad is estimated to be nearly one million. Bahadurabad also consist of different societies such as B.M.C.H.S, Sharfabad, K.M.C.H.S, Dhoraji, etc. The area mostly consists of high-rise residential and apartment buildings. The area has seen significant development and real estate investment after the 20th century, especially during a construction boom in the 2000s. During this boom, many of the huge gardens and large houses were replaced with the most fashionable high rises which has increased the population of this area significantly.
