Bainan
Bainan is a village on the bank of river Damodar in the district of Howrah in the state of West Bengal in India. It has a panchayat. It falls under Amta constituency. It has two high schools, Bainan Bamandas High School and Bainan Girls High School. It has one market which opens daily. The local Police station is "Bagnan Thana".
==History==
If we try go back to the history of this place, it needs a bit of study and library work. We have to first look into the history of Howrah district itself. Mainly the year 1854 is remarkable if we consider the economic paradigm shift of Howrah; which is basically an area covering Shibpur, Saalkia, Ramrajatola. The British established the Howrah railway station during that time.
The Howrah District was formed by division of Hooghly District.Both Howrah & Hooghly were under the zamindery of Burdwan Maharaja.Before that the whole area was under the famous Bhursoot Kingdom which ruled this area about 200 years by the Roy family. Pratap Narayan Roy was the most famous King of this Dynasty.His widow wife successfully resisted the aggression of a Muslim invader from Odhisa with the help of a few local Bagdi community.Emperor Akbar was in the helm of Mughal Dynasty that time.He was very pleased & conferred "Roy Baghini" title to that brave lady.
