thumb Bainchan is very small village in the Hoshiarpur District in Indian state of Punjab. It has very long unknown history of origin and is situtaed in between two state highways named Hoshiarpur-Tanda Road (SH-21) and Hoshiarpur-Dasuya Road and comes under judiciary of Hoshiarpur. It is named after Surnames of Jatt caste people which is "warraich" and thus modified to bainchan. Almost six different caste of people live together (Warraich, Bawa, Malhi, ad dharmi, kumhar, chir etc.) This small village people creates the wonder in outside world and many known and brilliant personalities born here, such as Onkar Singh, who obtained his Doctrate Degree with not so good financial background and thus create a new revolution of motivation among the youngsters. Harpreet Bawa Asst. Manager with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) also born & bought up in this village. His father Hony. Capt. Tirath Ram Bawa serves the Indian Army for long period of 28 years and receive the long and brilliant service award from Hon'able President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalaam. Politics is also not a small issue here as very good politicians serving the society belongs to this village. Jaswant Singh Chotala (Sr. Leader of Congress), His Son GurVir Singh (general secretary of N.S.U.I PUNJAB and youth leader of congress party) are distinguishing this village from others. The village have three nos. of Gurudwaras (One of Baba Jhanda Singh ji, another is of Baba Ravidas Ji and last one of Sant Bhag singh ji), one temple of Lord Shiva which describe the faith of residing peoples in GOD and indicates unity in diversity. Agriculture is one of main business of people here and is done by all modern techniques which makes the village self-dependent for food. Almost 50% families has their representatives in foreign countries, almost each corner of world. == Climate == The Village has a mild climate compared to villages of other districts in the state of Punjab. Much of this is due to the abundance of hilly terrain and sizeable forest cover. Temperatures drop as low as -5oC in the winter. The pattern of seasons in the village is similar to that of village of other districts in Punjab, except slight variations at the terminals. The year may be divided into three main seasons in the district of Hoshiarpur. The summer season sets in April and lasts up to end of June, to be taken over by the rainy season (during which time it becomes hot and humid). The rainy season sets in the beginning of July and lasts up till September's end. The winter season starts after the rains are over from October and lasts up until March's end. May and June are the hottest months of the year in Hoshiarpur (during which time mercury is known to cross 45 °C). Moreover, the local climate here is very suitable for citrus fruit cultivation and a large area is covered with the same.
