Bajulus A bajulus was an officer in the court of the Roman emperors. The bajuli were the preceptors of the emperors, whereof there were different degrees: the Grand Bajulus, and the bajuli who were the sub-preceptors. The first officer who bore this title was Antiochus, in the time of the younger Theodosius. Hence the Italians use the word Bajulus of the Kingdom in the same sense as the Protector of the Kingdom in England. ==References== # http://digicoll.library.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/HistSciTech/HistSciTech-idx?type=turn&entity=HistSciTech000900240226&isize=L
