They visit their patrons from other castes on special occasions, such as a birth of a child. The community speak Urdu. Little is known about their origin, but it is likely they are division of the Dom community, which sometime in the distant past converted to Islam. They are found mainly in the districts of Begusarai, Patna, Champaran and Nalanda.
