Banarhat ((ベンガル語:বানারহাট) ) is a census town in Jalpaiguri district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is a town surrounding 23 tea gardens in the Dooars region of Jalpaiguri district in the state of West Bengal, India. People of twenty three tea gardens in and around are dependent on this town for their essentials. Population of Banarhat is about 25,000 and it is spread in an area of about 900sq. km. Banarhat is 72 km. far from Siliguri and 65 km from Jalpaiguri ( The District Headquarters). This is the melting pot of different cultures where the aborigines, the tea garden workers, Marwaris, Asamese, Bengalis, Oriya from both side of the border and Nepalese leave together in harmony. Banarhat is surrounded by tea gardens and basties (villages). The tea gardens around has ensured that people in this area have a relatively better standard of leaving. Major occupation of people is service. Although many are engaged in businesses as well. Banarhat is one of the most important towns in Dooars.
