Bayalu Seeme
Bayaluseeme or Bayalu Seeme is the area lying to the east of Malenadu, a region of Karnataka state in South India. The area is largely open plain, with few hillocks. It includes the districts of Dharwad, Belgaum, Gadag, Haveri, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Bellary, Chitradurga, Davangere, Tumkur, Hassan and Mandya. ==Etymolgy== This name is possibly derived from Kannada word ''bayaluseemae'', meaning "plain ground" or "open ground" as it gives an unobstructed view of the neighbouring locality. It is also sometimes called ''Maidan''. ''Maidan'' is a Persian term, which translates literally as 'field', and may be used to describe any open plain, park or square.
