Berothah Berothah (Hebrew ''bērôṯâ'') is a city named in Ezekiel 47:16, located on the northern boundary of the ideal state of Israel. It is probably to be identified with Berothai ''(bērôṯay)'',〔Entries on "Berothah" and "Berothai" in ''Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible'' (Wm. B. Eerdmans, 2000), p. 168.〕 an ancient Syrian city ruled by Hadadezer bar Rehob,〔Gösta W. Ahlström, ''The History of Ancient Palestine'' (Fortress Press, 1993), p. 396.〕 king of Zobah, in the early tenth century BCE. According II Samuel 8:8, King David of Israel pillaged the city of a great quantity of bronze〔''Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible'', p. 168.〕 or copper.〔Hillel I. Millgram, ''The Invention of Monotheist Ethics'' (University of America Press, 2010), p. 334.〕 The site of Berothai is probably the modern-day village of Bereitân, 13 km (8 miles) south of Baalbek.〔''Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible'' p. 168.〕 ==References==
