It is a tributary of the Ljubljanica, which it joins at Podgrad. Besnica includes the hamlets of Derčar, Jančar, Pečar, Prek, Špan, and Tomaž. ==Name== The name ''Besnica'' is originally a hydronym that was later applied to the settlement along Besnica Creek.
