Bhaniyana is a census village mostly of the ethnic group, Jat, in the Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan, India. It is 110 km. to the east of Jaisalmer and 36 km to the south of Pokaran. Bhaniyana has a population of 1,500 families out of which 1,000 families are Jat. The main gotra (clan) of this village is Godara. Agriculture is the main source of living. Bhaniyana also has a rich political and social history. Bhaniyana is the most developed village in Jaisalmer, mainly due to CHOUDHARY KHARTA RAM, who is the only person in India to be a member of panchayati raj from 1959 to the present.
