Bigo Bigo (Bigo bya Mugyenyi) is an excavation site located in the western part of Uganda, Africa, along the Katonga River. It is known as an earthwork site created by the Bachwezi people, who were known for having cattle and came possibly from the North, from the 11th to 16th century based on carbon dating. The Bahima people of that land are thought to be possible descendants. It was the Capital of the Kitara empire. Bigo is set in the jungle in the middle of a vast forest setting. Bushbacks, snakes, and leopards are some of the animals known to the modern day area. Along with Ntsui and Mubende, Bigo was thought to be the heart of Bunyoro Kitara. == History == Bigo became the capital of Kitara when Wamala, son of Ndahura, took over after his father was captured. The site goes hand in hand with the teachings of oral traditions and is one of the main reasons why Bigo is known today.
