BoxNation is a 24-hour dedicated boxing Pay television channel, operated by Boxing Channel Media and promoter Frank Warren, available in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It currently costs £12 (€15) per box a month to access the channel with an additional £8 (€10) registration fee added to the first payment for Sky subscribers. Virgin Media subscribers pay only £10 a month to access the channel with no registration fee. Alternatively customers can pay to watch one off events. ==History== BoxNation was launched as a free-to-air service on the Sky platform on channel 456, moving to 437 in July 2012. The channel soft launched on 14 July 2011, airing two hours of classic fights per day from Frank Warren Promotions. The channel fully launched on 30 September 2011, broadcasting live fights, magazine programmes and footage of classic fights from boxing legends including Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson. The channel screened its first live fight on 30 September 2011 as Liam Walsh stopped Paul Appleby in the tenth round at York Hall in Bethnal Green. BoxNation was later launched on the Virgin Media platform on channel 546 on 1 December 2011. It also became a monthly subscription channel on this day. In 2012 BoxNation launched an iOS app for iPhone and iPad users as well as launching an online service via LiveSport.tv, In 2013 BoxNation made the app available to Android phone users. App users are charged £9.99 a month to view the full BoxNation coverage regardless if they are already subscribed via Sky or Virgin Media. In 2014 BoxNation made the partial switch to high definition exclusively on the Sky platform broadcasting from 3 February on channel 449. The channel moved to 490 on 12 March 2014.
