Brethertons Brethertons Solicitors is one of the oldest firms of solicitors in Rugby and was founded by Count William Ferdinand Wratislaw in 1810, a Bohemian nobleman related to Good King Wenceslas.〔The National Archives, Brethertons of Rugby- Solicitors, (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=187-cr3074&cid=0#0, accessed 8 December 2009)〕 Brethertons was established at Church Street in Rugby and this is still one of six offices.〔Rugby Council Website, Blue Plaques, (http://www.rugby.gov.uk/downloads/BluePlaque.pdf accessed 8 December 2009)〕 ==History== The house in Church Street was built by Ferdinand’s father Marc Mari Emanuel Wratislaw, and holds the title of being the first house in Rugby to be roofed in slate. Thus the pioneering reputation of the Wratislaws, which Brethertons now forwards to great effect, had been formed. In 1992, the name of the firm changed again following the retirement of John Duffy, a senior partner of the firm, from Bretherton Turpin and Pell, to the current name of Brethertons.〔The LawGazette Website, http://www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/people-amp-firms-0 accessed 9 December 2009.〕 Brethertons currently has 19 partners and employs around 220 people across their 3 office locations.〔Brethertons Website, http://www.brethertons.co.uk/ accessed 9 December 2009.〕
