Buja is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about northwest of Trieste and about northwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,758 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 The municipality of Buja contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Avilla, San Floreano, Sopramonte, Solaris, Madonna, Urbignacco, Santo Stefano, Collosomano, Sottocostoia, Ursinins Grande, Ursinins Piccolo, Monte, Arba, Caspigello, Campo Garzolino, Saletti, Tomba, Sala, Sottocolle, and Ca' Martino. In Sottocostoia was born Enrico Ursella (1887-1955), an Italian modernist painter.
