Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) (French: ''Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l'est de l'Ontario'') is a major children's hospital and university teaching hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, serving Eastern Ontario and western Quebec. CHEO is also a trauma centre for children in Eastern Ontario and one of five in Canada (others being Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver and IWK Health Centre in Halifax). It is affiliated with The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa, and is funded by the provincial Government of Ontario.〔(CHEO: History )〕 The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario first opened its doors on May 17, 1974, and is located at 401 Smyth Road.
== Funding ==
CHEO is funded by the provincial government of Ontario as well as by a variety of public donations. One of the hospital's major sources of funding comes from the CHEO Foundation.
