CHRK-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting from Sydney, Nova Scotia at 101.9 FM owned by Newcap Radio. The station is one of several new radio stations approved in 2007 for the Atlantic Provinces.〔(Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-220 )〕 It is also one of two new radio stations for the Cape Breton region along with sister station CKCH-FM. ==History== The station began a required three week Industry Canada testing period on May 15, 2008 and officially launched on Tuesday May 27, at 8 am with the first song being 4 Minutes by Madonna and Justin Timberlake. It is branded "101-9 The Giant, Cape Breton's Hit Music Station". The station's music format is adult contemporary hit radio (CHR). The on-air line up includes the Big Breakfast with Sydney natives Rob MacNamara and Tashia Lee. Rob Calabrese joined the Big Breakfast in June 2013. Daryl Stevens, Donald Green, Sheumas Campbell and Stephanie MacPhee round out the on air line up.
