The Committee on the Appeal for Human Rights (COAHR) was formed by a group of Atlanta University Center students in February, 1960.

Six days after publication of An Appeal for Human Rights,〔(An Appeal for Human Rights - March 9th, 1960 ) - Committee on the Appeal for Human Rights〕 student in Atlanta united to start the Atlanta Student Movement with Sit-ins in order to demand racial desegregation of their society as part of the African-American Civil Rights Movement.
