Cappataggle

Cappataggle () is a village located between the towns of Loughrea and Ballinasloe in east Co. Galway. It joins with Kilrickle to form a Parish. The name Cappataggle in Irish translates to 'Ceapach an tSeagail', which means the meadow of rye. The village is centred on many dairy, livestock and tillage farms. The new M6 Galway to Dublin motorway toll plaza is located a half km from the village.
The village itself is rather small consisting of a hamlet of houses, a pub/grocery/post office, church, community centre, national school and sports field. There is another community hall located in Killalaghton which is suituated three miles south of the village. Recently an artificial pitch, hurling wall and parochial house has been built with the genorisity of labour and funds of the local community.
Sport is a major recreational pastime among the community. The local hurling club is based in the village and their colours are black and red. Players and supporters also come from the neighbouring villages of Aughrim, Kilconnell and Kilrickle. Gaelic football is played with St. Gabriels in Kilconnell. Most players play both hurling and football.
