Chamogarh is a village 15 km from Gilgit city, in Gilgit-Baltistan. The word Chamogarh is derived from a woman`s name Chamo, who was the head of Chamogarh before the independence of Gilgit-Baltistan. Danyor Alam bridge road crosses Chamogarh, it also connects it to Jalalabad, Danyor, Oshkhindass and Alam bridge . In the west it is connected to the village of Harating, Jalalabad, Gilgit City, Hunza and Khunjerab top to China. Chamogarh has an intervening width of mountainous terrain. ==Prominent Residents== Pashtuns have been vary active in the social and political affairs of the village, with Sayed Alam being the first Lanbadar (Chief of The Village). Saeed Ahmad remained Home Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan and his brother, Dr Ghulam Ahmad, is a retired army major. The two brothers, Home Secretary Sibtain Ahmad and Deputy Commissioner Usman Ahmad are sons of Dr Ghulam. Others include teacher Nazir Ahmad, Ifhtakar Ahmad (SO), Secretariat Gilgit, Ghayour Ahmad (Executive Engineer), Shaheed Engineer Iqbal Ahmad, Dildar Ahmad (Government Contractor), Suhail Ahmad, son of Saeed Ahmad Khan, and civil judge Sajjad Ahmad(RFO). The Khasu family, which is called Patonz in local language, migrated from Pattan, Kohistan. According to Khasu family, these people migrated from Swat to Pattan Kohistan. There are also sub-castes of Patonz in Chamogarh. After some decades, the Khasu family came to Gilgit and settled in Chamogarh. These people are also working as officers in the government sector, like Captain Rashid Minhas, Mubashir and Alam Executive Engineer, and Dr. Muddasir. There is also a family called Khiloch, in local language, who descended from Khili Kohistan. The Sheikh family is the biggest family by population. They migrated from Kohistan (Saikot) and this family lives in Bagh Mohallah.
