Chesalles-sur-Oron is a former municipality in the district of Lavaux-Oron in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The municipalities of Bussigny-sur-Oron, Châtillens, Chesalles-sur-Oron, Ecoteaux, Oron-la-Ville, Oron-le-Châtel, Palézieux, Les Tavernes, Les Thioleyres and Vuibroye merged on 1 January 2012 into the new municipality of Oron.〔(Amtliches Gemeindeverzeichnis der Schweiz ) published by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office accessed 21 December 2011〕 ==Geography== Chesalles-sur-Oron had an area, , of . Of this area, or 73.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 18.0% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 9.0% is settled (buildings or roads).〔(Swiss Federal Statistical Office-Land Use Statistics ) 2009 data accessed 25 March 2010〕 Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 5.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.5%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests.
