Chillianwala is a town and union council of Mandi Bahauddin District in the Punjab province of Pakistan.〔(Tehsils & Unions in the District of Mandi Bahauddin - Government of Pakistan )〕 It is located at 32°39'0N 73°36'0E at an altitude of 218 metres (718 feet) and lies to the north-east of the district capital Mandi Bahauddin.〔(Location of Chilianwala - Falling Rain Genomics )〕 It is famous for being the location of the Battle of Chillianwala that took place in 1849 between the forces of the Sikh Khalsa army and the British Army. ==History== The predominantly Muslim population supported Muslim League and Pakistan Movement. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, the minority Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India while the Muslims refugees from India settled down in Mandi Bahauddin District. Chillianwala is one of the largest villages in Pakistan. Before 1992, it was part of District Gujrat, but now a part of Mandi Bahauddin. Chillianwala is culturally very rich and demands to preserve the heritage. The Battle of Chillianwala fought in this region. The most notable thing in the centre of the village is two graveyards which are both deeply respected by the citizens of Chellianwala, a few lakh rupees have been donated by provincial government with the efforts of ex-chairman Chellianwala CH Nasir Ahmed son of CH Ghulam Ahmad from the royal Amireke family(Ch Tuman Khan, Ch Jaahan Khan, Ch Ghulam Sarwar) and efforts are still being put in to highlight its historical importance and military significance, this has so far been a success
