Chokkad
Chokkad is a town situated in south-east of Nilambur in Malappuram district of Kerala, India. Town is a located on the state high way between Nilambur and Kalikavu. It is 13 km from Nilambur railway station and 7 km from Kalikavu. Chokkad has a government middle school and two privately managed schools, two mosques and three churches, a post office (PIN 679355) and a commercial bank (South Malabar Gramin Bank). The first Church in Chokkad was founded in 1975 after an evangelical convention was held in the area in 1974. The village is on the bed of two rivers, Kottappuzha and Chokkadanpuzha. The hills adjacent to it have a tribal settlement made by the government, expressly for the local hill populations. Chokkad hills is inhabited by Dravidian groups such as the Ernadan, Muthan and Paniyan.
