Chubasco A chubasco is a violent squall with thunder and lightning,〔http://ggweather.com/winds.html〕 encountered during the rainy season along the Pacific coast of Mexico, Central America, South America. It is also widely used when rain is accompanied by strong winds in other Spanish-speaking countries. The word chubasco has its origins in the Portuguese word ''chuva'' which means rain.
