Crabbie's

Crabbie's Ginger Beer is a sparkling Ginger Beer produced by Halewood International.
==Background==
The ginger beer was created by a Scottish merchant named John Crabbie. Crabbie first imported ginger to make the beverage from the Far East into the port of Leith, Edinburgh in 1801.〔 The method used by Crabbie is still used today.
The original John Crabbie company went into liquidation in 1848 and its assets were acquired by fellow Leith distiller Macdonald & Muir.〔http://www.brewsnews.com.au/2011/10/crabbies-ginger-beer/〕 Macdonald & Muir acquired the Glenmorangie Distillery in 1918 renaming itself The Glenmorangie Company in 1996. In 2007, it sold the brand to the present owners, Halewood International.〔http://www.harpers.co.uk/wine/halewood-international-buys-crabbies/303450.article〕
Crabbie's is alcoholic (4.8%) and fermented ginger and steeped for up to eight weeks. The Ginger beer has a spiced flavour and a sparkling flavour similar to a carbonated beverage. Crabbie’s is typically chilled over ice with a slice of lemon or lime.
