Cuamil
A ''cuamil'', (plural: ''cuamiles''), is the term for a slanted field, set atop a mountain slope, in which maize, bean, or squash is farmed. Cuamiles are found on rugged, mountainous areas of west-central Mexico. The word ''cuamil'', comes from the Nahuatl words ''cuahuitl'', which means "tree", and ''milli'' which means "heritage". In the western Mexican State of Jalisco, many of the cuamiles are sustained with the rain showers that last in the region from May to September. Many cuamiles are terraced with retaining walls for the prevention of soil loss. ==External links==
