Cynaethe : ウィキペディア英語版
Cynaetha
Cynaetha () was a city-state in ancient Arcadia. The northernmost town of Arcadia, it bordered on the territories of Cleitor and Pheneus. It was located near present Kalavryta. It was located 40 stades (6 km) from Lousoi.〔Pausanias, ''Description of Greece'', 8.19〕
It was destroyed by the Aetolians in the Social War (220–217 BC), but it was rebuilt afterwards.〔 When Pausanias visited the city it had a sanctuary of Dionysus and a statue of emperor Hadrian. The Cynaetheans gave to Olympia the statue of Zeus which held a thunder in his hand. There was a spring near Cynaetha named ''Alyssus'' (Άλυσσος), which was to cure from rabies.〔
