Dabhade

Dabhade is a Maratha clan found largely in Maharashtra, India. The clan is primarily known for Maratha military leader Khanderao Dabhade. Their capital was Talegaon Dabhade, near Pune.
The "Mul-Purush" of the family was Bajajirao Dabhade. His son Yesajirao Dabhade was the personal bodyguard of the great Maratha Warrior King Shivaji. The eldest son of Yesajirao was Khanderao Dabhade who was conferred the title of "Sarsenapati" on 11 January 1717 by Shahuji of Satara (grandson of Shivaji). His younger son Shivaji Dabhade helped Rajaram reach Gingee safely from the Mughals.
Sarsenapati Umabaisaheb Khanderao Dabhade was the only woman Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha Army.
Sarsenapati Trimbakrao Khanderao Dabhade Ist was killed in the Battle of Dabhoi on 1 April 1731.
Sarsenapati Trimbakrao Dabhade IInd was present in the Battle of Panipat on 14 January 1761.
The family was divided into the Senior Branch and Junior Branch in 1933. The descendants presently live in Talegaon Dabhade and Pune.
Sardar Jayendraraje Sangramsinhraje Dabhade is the head of the senior branch since 1993 and Sardar Satyasheelraje Padmasenraje Dabhade is the head the junior branch since 2014.
