Danané
Danané is a town and commune in the Danané Department in western Côte d'Ivoire near the Guinean and Liberian borders, 75.5km west of the capital, Man. It is located in the Dix-Huit Montagnes Region. Danane is the second largest city in the Dan (Yakouba or Gio) region along the Nuon River Valley. Danane really grew during the Liberian Civil War as it became the destination for most refugees fleeing the conflict across the border. By the end of 1999 and the beginning of the new century Danane had overgrown it boundary and swallow up most little villages around it. This town plays a key roll in the lives of most Liberians inhabiting the United States today, about half if not more of all Liberians In the U.S. came by way of Danane.
