According to the tribe's tradition, the Dandiwal are of Chauhan Rajput descent, who are said to have immigrated from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan to Sirsa and Hissar in the 15th Century. Like many other Jat clans, Dandiwals are part of Hindu, Muslims and Sikh religions. They practice ancestral worship. Their customs are similar to other Jats in Haryana. Also Dandiwals are in large numbers in Bathinda district of Punjab where village Bhunder Kalan in Rampura Phul tahseel is mainly of Dandiwals. Punjabi Jatt Dandiwal's also follow same tradition of ancestral worship.
