Dačice

Dačice ((:ˈdatʃɪtsɛ); (ドイツ語:Datschitz)) is a town in southwestern Moravia, currently belonging to the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has cca 8,000 inhabitants. It is notable as the home of the sugar cube, which was invented there in 1843 by Jakub Kryštof Rad.

Until 1918, ''DATSCHITZ - DAČICE'' (''DATSCHITZ'' in 1850) was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), in the district with the same name, one of the 34 ''Bezirkshauptmannschaften'' in Moravia.〔Die postalischen Abstempelungen auf den österreichischen Postwertzeichen-Ausgaben 1867, 1883 und 1890, Wilhelm KLEIN, 1967〕
