Difloxacin (INN), marketed under the trade name Dicural, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used in veterinary medicine. Although a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, its efficacy is not as good as enrofloxacin or pradofloxacin. In 1997, difloxacin hydrochloride tablets were approved for managing infectious diseases in canines. == Indications == The recommended once daily dosing is 5mg to 10mg/kg. This is based on clinical efficacy shown with the minimum dose and by using linear pharmacokinetics.〔 Therefore, if there is no noticeable improvement after five days, then the condition should be reevaluated and all therapy options reconsidered.
