Diriangen was the tribal leader of the Chorotegas 〔http://www.blackwellreference.com/public/tocnode?id=g9781405184649_yr2012_chunk_g9781405184649471〕 who can rightfully be called the first resistance fighter of the Nicaragua. He fought against the Spanish in the 1520s, keeping them at bay for a time.
