Dromolaxia
Dromolaxia ((ギリシア語:Δρομολαξιά); (トルコ語: Mormenekşe)) is a village near Larnaca International Airport, in Larnaca District, Cyprus. In 2011, it had a population of 5,064. ==History== It has been a settlement since the Middle Bronze Age.〔According to chart on the wall in exhibit room number 1 at the Larnaca District Museum〕 Dromolaxia ''Vizatzia'' was "a Late Cypriote city".〔(New Swedish Cyprus Expedition 2010 )〕 Archaeological excavations in 1972, a few hundred meters West of Hala Sultan Tekke (by E. Åström and A. Hatziantoniou) pointed to a settlement dating "from Middle Cypriote III to Late Cypriote I but also from Late Cypriote IIC to IIIA and later".〔(New Swedish Cyprus Expedition 2010 )〕 Dromolaxia's main church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is a special building to the people of Dromolaxia. It is believed that when the church caught fire the church bell could be heard ringing. The residents claimed that St. John rang the bell to warn the people that there was a fire in order to save the church.
