EmuTOS
EmuTOS is a replacement for TOS (the operating system of the Atari ST and its successors), released as free software. It's mainly intended to be used with Atari emulators and clones, such as Hatari or FireBee. With it, the use of the old, proprietary TOS versions can be avoided, as they are usually difficult to obtain.
== Features and compatibility ==
Unlike original the TOS, latest EmuTOS can work (sometimes with limited support) on all Atari hardware,〔(EmuTOS documentation ) - Readme files describing what HW different EmuTOS build variants support〕 even on some Amiga computers, and has support for features〔(v0.9.0 release announcement )〕〔(v0.9.1 release announcement )〕〔(v0.9.2 release announcement )〕 not available before: ColdFire CPU, IDE, FAT partitions and emulators' "Native Features" support.〔("Native Features" emulator specification )〕
Support lacks for some deprecated OS APIs, though most Line-A API functions are included.〔 By design differences on non-documented OS features may still exist. It has only some support for Atari Falcon sound matrix or DSP,〔(EmuTOS OS call support )〕 and VDI graphics support for 8-bit, not 16-bit resolutions. Therefore certain old games, demos and applications, and also some Falcon specific software may not work.〔(Hatari emulator EmuTOS compatibility list )〕
